Board Member Feature

Jed Becker

Jed Becker has been farming for 47 years near Cresco, Iowa with his wife, Joyce. Joyce is a recently retired Luther College math teacher. Jed has a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in Farm Operations and for 34 years he milked cows and did rotational grazing. The milk cows were sold in 2010. The 240-acre farm is now about one-third corn, one-third soybeans and one-third hay. He also raises a few steers and honeybees.

Jed is a past president of the Dairy Foundation and has been active with the Foundation in some capacity since 1999.

Both Joyce and Jed have always been active in their community and church, sometimes saying “Yes” much too often. With no milking to do, Jed has the time to take music lessons. He presently takes recorder and bagpipe lessons and plays both of these instruments for his church.
